CUSTOM ELEARNING DEVELOPMENT FOR AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT

I build custom eLearning for Australian government agencies: compliance training people actually finish, and leadership programs that hold attention. I spent more than two decades inside Defence and law enforcement before I started building learning for them.

THREE FORMATS, THREE JOBS

The right format depends on what the learning has to do. Explaining an idea, showing a situation unfold, and practising a judgement call are three different problems, and treating them the same is why so much eLearning falls flat.

Three samples from my own work, and why I built each one the way I did.

Scribble animation, 46 seconds
Openloop’s Workforce Optimisation Sprint, explained end to end.
I use scribble when an idea needs assembling in front of you. A four step method drawn one step at a time lands in under a minute, where a bulleted slide gets skimmed and forgotten.

Character animation, 35 seconds
A team whose performance is slipping, and what changes when someone steps in.
Animation is the only one of the three that shows a situation moving through time. You watch the problem before anyone names it, which is what makes the turnaround land.

Interactive module, built in Articulate Rise
Week one of The Good Work Series, a psychosocial safety programme I built in Articulate Rise. A working build, not a mock-up.
You cannot practise a judgement call by watching a video, so I used branching decisions to let people get it wrong somewhere it does not matter. It opens full screen in a new tab, so you see it the way a learner would.

Want learning your people actually finish?

HOW DOES IT WORK?

STEP 1

Tell me what you need

Fill in the form with a rough idea of what you are trying to achieve. It does not need to be a finished brief. The audience, the topic and roughly when you need it is plenty to start. A scoping document is welcome.

STEP 2

We talk it through

A conversation to work out what you are actually after and who it is for. We cover the options, from a straightforward module to a fully gamified build. Free, no obligation, and useful even if we never work together.

STEP 3

You get your quote

No price list here, and that is deliberate. Custom eLearning development is exactly that, custom. The same topic can be a short micro-learning or a fully gamified module, so your quote reflects what you actually asked for.

WHY WORK WITH ME

I have been the audience
Ten years in the Royal Australian Air Force as a communications analyst. Thirteen years with the Australian Federal Police as an intelligence and leadership trainer. I have sat through the mandatory training from the other side of the screen. I know what makes people click through with the sound off, and I know what makes them stop.

Design and build in one person
Most eLearning comes from one of two places: instructional designers who cannot build, or production houses who do not understand the content. You end up managing the gap between them. I do both, so the person working out how the learning should function is the person who makes it.

Accessible from the start, not bolted on
Client builds are delivered to WCAG 2.1 AA. Captions, transcripts, keyboard navigation, screen reader support. It is a mandatory requirement for APS digital content and plenty of vendors quietly miss it. Ticking that box should not be a change request.

Delivered through Openloop Solutions
I am a Senior Manager at Openloop Solutions and engagements run through them. You get me as the practitioner and an established company behind the contract, which matters once procurement starts asking questions.
